The Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics (IMSP), a degree-granting unit under the College of Arts and Sciences, was one of six National Centers of Excellence in the Basic Sciences that were created on March 23, 1983 by Presidential Decree No. 1416 through Executive Order No. 889. The NCOE’s were established to help advance science and technology in the country, and specifically, to strengthen and broaden the national capability to train scientific leaders and conduct research in the basic sciences.

You are all invited to attend the lecture of Dr. Amador Muriel entitled "In Vivo Kuhnian Revolution?" on September 2, 2010, 3-5 PM at the Physical Sciences Lecture Hall B, Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics, UP Los Baños. Dr. Muriel will discuss the latest twist in his quantum theory of turbulence, raising the possibility that the theory is indeed a paradigm shift such as found in the philosophy of science as elucidated by the philosopher Thomas Kuhn.
